Le Havre


Winner of the FIPRESCI prize at Cannes - Le Havre is celebrated finnish director Aki Kaurismaki (La Vie de Boheme, The Man Without a Past)'s migration comedy / drama about a failed author / professional shoeshiner (Andre Wilms) who tries to protect an] young African immigrant (Jean-Pierre Darroussin) from the police in french port city, Le Havre, while his wife (Kati Outinen) has fallen seriously ill. 


Apparently, Kaurismaki envisions it as the first in a trilogy about port cities - the next to be set in Spain and Germany (& shot in spanish & german).
